It is a non-political, non-profit Civil Association, of particular public interest and utility, with its own capital, constituted by the resolution of the Associates in a foundational session held in the city of San Pedro Sula, department of Cortés on May 20, 1976.
Among its objectives as an Association is to legally represent and defend the interests of the sugar industry.

APAH is comprised of seven members acting under the legal status of a non-profit organization and as such is registered with the Ministry of the Interior under registry number 2009000026, dated January 13, 2009.
Internally, APAH adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and is accountable to the organization’s Board of Directors through periodic reports, in addition to the execution of a strategic plan that is framed to promote sustainable and innovative development.
It is part of COHEP, ANDI, FENAGH and is committed to the dissemination of the Human Rights Guide for the country’s industrial sector. It has also signed a sector protocol with FUNDAHRSE to strengthen sustainability, obtaining the prestigious recognition as the First Socially Responsible Industry, thus affirming its commitment to the development of Honduras and continuous improvement.
